First-time buyers find perfect home at Fairfields Manor

May 2019

A Crawcrook couple have used the Help to Buy scheme to secure their first home, choosing a three-bedroom new-build property at our Fairfields Manor development.

Freelance graphic designer Georgia Nichol and her husband Dan, a car salesman, decided to make the move from rented accommodation to a property of their own in search of more space and a garden for their puppy, Burton.

Using Help to Buy, whereby the government lends buyers up to 20% of the cost of a new home, as well as their Help to Buy ISAs, the couple were able to get onto the property ladder sooner than they otherwise would have been able to.

Georgia said: “We had always wanted our first home to be a new-build; we liked the idea that it would be made just for us. We looked at a lot of developments in the area but none of them really fit the criteria we were after. We were immediately impressed with Fairfields Manor and were blown away by the service from the staff in the marketing suite. Everything was nice and relaxed and we had the opportunity to ask as many questions as we could think of, which was great for us as first time buyers.

“The location is perfect as it’s close to both our parents, we know the area well and it’s convenient for Dan to get to work in the morning as it’s just off the A695.”

Georgia and Dan decided on the semi-detached ‘Hastings’ house type, commenting: “We both agreed that the Hastings was an amazing home and great value for money. We were getting far more than we thought we would, and with the extra details that are included as standard, we knew it was going to be a beautiful home.

“The kitchen is the stand-out room for both of us; it gives us so much space and the bi-fold doors that lead onto the garden let in so much light, making it a lovely place to spend time.”

As a graphic designer, Georgia works from her Story home, and also runs an apparel company called ‘The Lone Wolf Pack’  which was set up to encourage a conversation on mental health. She donates some of the profits from her products – the designs of which are inspired by mental health – to the charity Mind, which is also Story Homes’ charity partner. Georgia attends Tynemouth Market every Sunday and her products are also displayed at the Creative Artist Studios at Vallum Farm.

Reflecting on their overall experience, the Nichols commented: “We’ve really enjoyed the whole process. The sales executives in the marketing suite have been amazing and they frequently go above and beyond what we expected.”
